| Solid shoe. Very breathable, holds up well for being light. Slightly wide toebox.
(2011-07-02) | Rating | Overall, a nice ride. I bought my pair a month ago and have been running on them ~4 times per week, on distances of 5-12 mi per go. I have medium to slightly low arches, slight overpronation, and quite narrow feet (I ordered 10.5 B). I like the shoe's touch of stability without too much control. This is especially true when doing interval training, as the stability tends to come in when running harder (with longer strides and greater impact) while not overly restrictive when jogging. The fit is snug and very comfortable around the mid-foot, but with my narrow feet -- even at width B -- the heel could be a little tighter, and the toebox is both a little deep and a little wide for my taste. On the plus side, this is the most breathable shoe I've ever used, and they hold up well for being fairly lightweight. They feel great even at the end of a 12mi run, though I am somewhat light and haven't tried them for any longer distances yet. The cushion is pretty even overall, but the heel strike isn't particularly soft and the cushion on the forefoot is a little light -- fine for me since I have a fairly even foot strike between heel and midfoot, but if you have a forefoot strike you will probably hate these.
I used to be a huge fan of Adidas about 6-8 years ago when I was running more competitively largely due to the fit, and have to admit that for people who love the narrow Adidas fit the toe box here may be a little wide. This is my first experience with Brooks (mostly since this is the first time I've used a narrow-width shoe, which even still isn't super snug), so I can't compare to previous generations of the Adrenaline. The quality here, however, is hard to beat -- especially these days. (Write a review) (Reply to this review) |

| Why change?
(2009-01-14) | Rating | The Adrenaline GTS 8 was a mighty fine shoe. Brooks decided to add more overlays to provide better forefoot stability which is not a bad thing. The problem is in the sole, specifically the BioMoGo. Compared to the previous MoGo, it has somewhat of a dead feel. The spring and responsiveness has disappeared. Also, Brooks changed the design of the heel portion that comes in contact with your achilles tendon. It feels as though this area has lost it's flexibility or suppleness. I now have a minor case of achilles tendonitis. When I switch back to the GTS 8, no problems. Overall, the shoe is nice to look at and very supportive. But this doesn't help me any if I can't wear them. (Write a review) (Reply to this review) |
